We rank schools using official Department for Education and Ofsted data, not user reviews. Primary schools are ordered by Key Stage 2 SATs (the percentage reaching the expected standard in reading, writing and maths), secondary schools by GCSE Attainment 8 and Progress 8, and sixth forms by A‑level results. Each school also receives a single Schools Near Me score from 0–100 that combines the official data available for it.

What is the Schools Near Me score?

It is a composite 0–100 indicator built only from the official data available for each school (inspection outcomes and, where published, results and other measures). It is not an Ofsted rating. Schools with no underlying data — such as schools in Wales, which are inspected by Estyn — are not scored. See the full methodology.

Are Ofsted single‑word grades still current?

No. Ofsted stopped issuing single‑word overall grades (Outstanding, Good, Requires Improvement, Inadequate) on 10 November 2025 and moved to report cards. Any single‑word grade you see reflects a school’s last inspection under the previous framework and is shown with its inspection date; Ofsted says the old grades are not comparable to the new outcomes.
