## What the site does

SchoolsNearMe.ai helps families find and compare schools using official data
from the Department for Education (DfE), Ofsted, Estyn and the Independent
Schools Inspectorate. The searchable register contains 26,976 schools and
education establishments across England and Wales. DfE performance and Ofsted
measures apply to England; Welsh schools use Estyn data where available.

Counts describe fields in the current searchable export. Missing and suppressed
values mean unknown, not zero.

## Important interpretation rules

- **snmScore (0–100):** inspection 30%, phase-appropriate attainment 40%,
  attendance 15%, pupil-teacher ratio 15%. Available weights are re-normalised
  when a source is missing. The score is withheld when evidence is insufficient
  or not comparable.
- **Ofsted grades:** 1 Outstanding, 2 Good, 3 Requires Improvement, 4
  Inadequate. Check the inspection date. The post-November-2025 framework does
  not publish one overall grade.
- **Progress 8:** the 2024/25 cohort has no KS2 baseline, so DfE does not publish
  Progress 8. Do not quote older rankings as current.
- **16–18 destinations:** institution-level DfE data for the 2022/23 cohort.
  It covers students completing 16–18 study there, not the school's Year 11
  leavers.
- **Catchment distances:** historical admissions evidence, not a guaranteed
  boundary or offer.
