What you can see in the map
- London dominates. The capital holds roughly 19% of England's Outstanding primaries, despite housing only around 15% of the country's primary-age children. The London-effect persists.
- The North does well in cities, less so in rural areas. Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool all show as distinct clusters. The empty spaces between them — rural North Yorkshire, much of Northumberland — have few.
- The South West thins out west of Bristol. Outstanding primaries are dense around the Bristol/Bath corridor and then drop off sharply moving into Devon and Cornwall.
- The East coast is sparse. Norfolk, Suffolk, Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire are noticeably under-represented.
